Bio
Nicholas Maluf is a composer and saxophone player living in Los Angeles, California.
Nicholas attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri for his undergrad. He studied music composition with Warren Gooch and Charles Gran. As a saxophone player, he learned classic saxophone with Randall Smith and jazz saxophone with Tim AuBuchon. He has worked as a copyist and an arranger for some of the ensembles at Truman. Nicholas has had many works premiered at Truman, ranging from saxophone quartets to a wind ensemble piece. He has had works reviewed by Christopher Biggs, Steven Snowden, and Paul Chihara. He graduated with his BA in Music with Emphasis in Composition with a minor in Jazz Studies in 2015.
Nicholas graduated with his Masters of Arts in Scoring for Film and Visual Media at Pulse College, located in Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin, Ireland. He has worked with Conrad Pope, Christopher Young, Rick Taylor, Tommy Laurence. In addition, he was taught by them as well as Andy Hill (Former Vice President of Music Production at Disney), Tony Perrey, Derek Gleeson, and Christo Pavlov as well as participating in group calls with John Powell, Mick Kiely, and Garry Schyman. During the course of his studies, he has had previous works performed with the Sinfonietta Sofia, under the direction of Christo Pavlov as well as work featured in a concert in Plovdiv, conducted by Pavlov and Derek Gleeson.
Nicholas is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). He is also a former member of the Route 66 Jazz Orchestra and the Midwest Jazz-tette (Jazz Octet)
